Are Your HR Policies Still From 2016?
Pull up your employee handbook right now. When was it last updated? If the honest answer is “a few years ago” or worse, “we’re not totally sure,” you’re not alone. Most small businesses write an HR policy once, file it away, and only think about it again when something goes wrong.
That’s the problem. Laws change. Work models change. What counted as a reasonable policy in 2016 can now be outdated, unclear, or flat-out non-compliant. And when a policy gets tested, whether by an employee complaint, a termination dispute, or a state audit, an outdated document won’t hold up the way you need it to.
